Applicants must list a Nevada residence or Nevada State Bar Number on their application. A library card allows patrons to check out physical materials and access digital materials held on HeinOnline, VitalLaw, and our LexisNexis Digital Library.
When you use the Nevada Supreme Court LexisNexis Digital Library, it works like a real library with rules for checking out books. You can borrow up to 5 volumes at once, and each book can be checked out for 7 days. After 7 days, the book will be automatically returned, but you can borrow it again if it's available. If the book you want is checked out, you can place a hold to get it later, and you will be notified by email when it’s available. You can also use blue links in the e-books to jump to different sections, and green links to access related cases and statutes.
When using the Nevada Supreme Court LexisNexis Digital Library as a member of the public, books circulate the same way they do in a physical library with checkout limits, loan periods, and holds.
You can check out 5 VOLUMES at a time. Many legal titles have more than one volume, hence the limit on the number of volumes.
You may check out each volume for 7 DAYS. After 7 days, the volume is automatically returned --you don't need to do anything to return the book. If you still need the book, you can check it out again, if it is available.
You may RETURN A BOOK early if you are finished.
If the volume you want is not available, you may request to HOLD it. Placing a hold starts a queue of people waiting for the book.
One of the benefits of an eBook is the ability to jump to another section in the book, or even another volume in a set. LexisNexis Digital Library offers this functionality through the use of blue links like you are used to seeing while surfing the Internet. Green links are usually attached to cases and statutes and direct you to Lexis which requires an account for access. Each volume provides the following color key:
