Nevada remains one of the few states that still publish their own statutes (NRS), cases (Nev.), and regulations (NAC) and citation to these official sources is expected. As Nevada does not have a formal legal citation style guide or manual, this guide was created to provide examples of Nevada legal citations preferred by the Nevada Supreme Court which may differ from those in The Bluebook: A Uniform System of Citation (21st ed. 2020). The Bluebook citation format and examples in this guide are for comparison purposes only.
Beware of relying on ChatGPT for creating citations! "A lawyer representing a man who sued an airline relied on artificial intelligence to help prepare a court filing. It did not go well." Benjamin Weiser, Here's What Happens When Your Lawyer Uses Chat GPT, NY Times (May 27, 2023).
A good tip for locating examples of Nevada citation format is to search Nevada Supreme Court opinions to see how the Court has handled similar citations.
