U.S. Reports in the Nevada Supreme Court Law Library

The United States Reports is the official publication for opinions written by the Supreme Court of the United States. For more information on how to access the U.S. Reports online and in print, please review the boxes and links below.

Finding U.S. Reports Online

The U.S. Reports, including preliminary prints and slip opinions, are available online through HeinOnline and the U.S. Government Publishing Office. Earlier versions of the U.S. Reports are also available online through the Library of Congress.

Patrons can access HeinOnline when in-person at the law library in Carson City. 

  • U.S. Reports
    The collection contains volume 1 through volume 579.
  • U.S. Reports Preliminary Prints
    The collection contains volume 535 through volume 586.
  • U.S. Reports Slip Opinions
    The collection contains slip opinions from 2002 through 2025.

U.S. Government Publishing Office

The U.S. Government Publishing Office is responsible for publishing the U.S. Reports. You can find more recent versions of opinions for free on their website. Pagination of opinions that have not yet been published in the official U.S. Reports is available in the preliminary prints and slip opinions. Under slip opinions, the official citation for the opinion (which may change once published) is available in the far right column. 

  • U.S. Reports
    Free downloadable versions of the U.S. Reports starting at volume 502 (1991 Term) and including subsequent terms.
  • U.S. Reports Preliminary Prints
    Free downloadable preliminary prints of the U.S. Reports, currently from volume 583 (2017 Term) to volume 588 (2018 Term).
  • U.S. Reports Slip Opinions
    Slip opinions are available for the 2016 Term to the current (2024) term. Citations and pagination are available.

Library of Congress

The Library of Congress has free, digital copies of earlier volumes of the United States Reports. You can view the collection by volume, authoring justice, and major case topic.

    The collection contains volume 1 through volume 570.

Finding U.S. Reports in Print

Nevada Supreme Court Law Library 

The Nevada Supreme Court Law Library has bound volumes of the U.S. Reports from volume 1 to volume 579. The law library also has preliminary prints from 2017 and print copies of slip opinions from 2018 to 2023.
