When you get search results, you might see a compiled history from the Legislative Counsel Bureau (LCB). This history includes the bill's details, committee minutes, and extra documents, usually in a PDF format. Some PDFs can be searched for specific words, but others might not. Big, compiled histories might be split into smaller files. Sometimes, extra publications from the LCB will help explain the history more.

Step 4: Review the Search Results

If the system returns this result, it is a compiled legislative history prepared by the Legislative Counsel Bureau (LCB). The compiled history includes:

  • Bill History: A record of the bill's progress through the legislative process.
  • Committee Minutes: Notes from committee discussions and decisions.
  • Exhibits: Supporting materials and documents presented during committee hearings.

Key Points to Note:

  • The document is provided as a PDF.
  • Depending on the file's age, it may or may not be fully text-searchable.
  • For very large legislative histories, the LCB divides the files into smaller, more manageable parts.
  • Sometimes, these histories are accompanied by related LCB publications for additional context.
